The Road to Standon Calling: WE'RE IN THE FINALS!

We're very happy to announce that we've been chosen to be in the final round of The Road to Standon Calling where we'll be battling it out with four other bands for the chance to play on the main stage at the 3 day STANDONCALLING festival in Hertfordshire with the likes of SPIRITUALIZED, BATTLES, WASHED OUT, JOHN COOPER CLARKE, JOHN GRANT, TEETH OF THE SEA, HOWARD MARKS, ZINC + loads more...

All we need you to do is come to the final heat at the OLD QUEENS HEAD on Essex Road in Islington on Thursday 14th July.
It's £3 entry, we're on at 8pm and are playing a 20 min set to try and WOW the judges.

Event organiser Tamsin McLarty will be interviewed about the gig by Tom Robinson on his BBC 6Music show on Wednesday 13th July.

"Standon Calling's made it's mark by keeping it's ear to the ground and spotting talent early on. From Paloma Faith to Florence & The Machine, from The Maccabees, The Mystery Jets & Everything Everything to Delphic, Mumford & Sons, The Noisettes & Friendly Fires. The Road to Standon is the next stage, giving fledgeling artists with no label and agent support a platform to showcase their material in front of a panel of music industry judges.

The Road to Standon is being judged by Jon Hillcock (New Noise podcast and Ex-NME, XFM and 6music DJ); Olly Hodgson (Coda Music Agency); Andy Malt (CMU editor) Ally Wolf (booker for The Old Queen’s Head, The Nest, The River Rat Pack Tour); Ollie Clueit (radio plugger/award-winning blogger); and Tamsin McLarty (Standon Calling/Twisted Licks/Star of Kings booker).

The four winners of the heats, plus two judge’s wild cards will compete at the festival on the opening night of the festival, Thursday 11th August. The winner of the competition goes on to play a main stage slot the following day on Friday 12th August. Competing in the final round are:

TRIM THE BARBER
....make melancholy post-punk shoegazey stuff. We just found out about em and then we just found out we like em. Would be good to hear how it layers live."
